Knowing You're Chosen Makes All the Difference May 1, 2017 Enhancing Human Performance

How we look at life and from what vantage point determines our experience. Think about stress and peace, struggle and rest, fear and courage. Could these pairings that seem to be opposites simply be different sides of the same coin?

In any given moment on pretty much any single day, stressful situations can manifest and things can blow up.  If you live a life of a busy leader, be it at home or at the office, then you know that every single day will bring times of stress. Stress and turmoil are guaranteed because we live a life of relationships, and relationships are with people and people at times do crazy things.

In a busy chiropractic office we can see hundreds of people on any given day and they all arrive with their issues. Whether it be lack of sleep because of pain, running late for work, anxiety and fear about not getting better, and just not being able to do the things they need and want to do, opens the door for stress and anxiety to enter their day, and subsequently, your day.

There are two ways to deal with this day. One will be stressful, the other peaceful.

Approach number one is to get out of bed and first try to ignore the mild build up of anxiety in the pit of your stomach.  Pull yourself up by the bootstraps and talk yourself into believing that you can get through it. Next, you can visualize yourself  staying calm and  convince yourself you can do it as you serve out of your own strength to the best of your ability. Over time you get habituated to the stress and you barely notice it. But just because you are used to it and don't notice it doesn't mean it's not there. Your body, soul, and spirit still deal with the stress. It just moved to the subconscious mind. It only takes a little extra stress to send you into overload and something bad like anger or rage is going to happen.

Approach number two. What if you knew that you were CHOSEN to enter into this same day?

What if you understood in a profound way that you were CHOSEN BY GOD before the beginning of time to step into this day?
The Bible says that God knew us from the beginning of time.  He knit us together in our mother's womb and He chose us to share His love with others.

We were chosen in this day, this one tiny sliver of 24 hours within the immensity of eternity, to do what we were called to do.

That being to love God and to serve the people that He puts in front of us. How different is our day going to be if we can focus on the fact that we are called by God to be there vs thinking we have to deal with this stress on our own?

Two different approaches with two very different outcomes. Same day, same people.  One approach leading to stress as we run out of our own capacity to love. The other approach-knowing we are chosen- leads to peace as we become a clean empty vessel for God's love to pour forth and leaves us wanting to serve even more.

Two sides of the same coin?

We can embrace the challenge of today and see it for what it really is- a blessing to be able to serve God by serving God's people with God's love from above down inside out.

What position are you serving from?

An epic perspective that shifts everything! So often I respond to life's challenges with a stressful attitude and when things calm down I feel more at peace, but knowing I am chosen for each day, whatever life brings is comforting and encouraging. I can do ALL things through Christ who strengthens me. Thanks coach!

Thanks Yurij! Goes right back to the first question on the WCPES , why do I care? That question is fought for everyday.

Focused on God. Stressed, refocus. Kids frustrating me - getting angry, what? Oh ya, You called me to be a father - wow! Refocused & loving. What do you mean, the car's broken? Breathe- Holy Spirit - good fruit. Who wants to quit care?! Are they crazy? What? Love them, fight for them? Okay, help me Father. Working out of my strength, it doesn't go well. Knowing I am called to this day, called to be a father, a husband, a leader, a healer, and relying on His strength is a game changer. Thanks for reminding me to keep focused on Him.

I totally see myself in the first side of the coin, doing things in my own strength. Even though I believe deeply that I am chosen, I fall in that trap. Thanks for shedding the light on this. Time to step into loving from his strength and not from my own.

Thanks Coach. I've been getting drained lately because I'm still trying to do it on my own. Getting better at hearing his call and being chosen by him....
