    How Wild is My God?

If you are like me, you don't realize how wild God really is. April 5, 2017 Enhancing Human Performance

    Warrior Wisdom
God is wild but I always seem to try to train Him into being tame and safe. I don't want the risk of giving God the reigns of my life.
I would much sooner pray safe prayers. "Father protect me and my family. Father bless me and my family. Father provide  for me and keep me at peace and out of harms way.'

God is saying, 'I have a plan for your life.  A calling on this day.  Come and follow Me and you will be ultimately fulfilled."  However, if I haven't spent the time in relationship with God, then I don't trust Him enough to do that.
I have a hard time giving up control and so I continue to try to shape my own life.
This leads to a place that is safe but unfulfilling.  I settle for scraps instead of feasting at my Father's table.

The real problems begin when trials come into my life. If I haven't surrendered and am working out of my own strength, the dark clouds of life can become unbearable.
I read this morning an excerpt from Oswald Chambers.  "It is not true that God wants to teach us something in our trials...He wants us to unlearn something."
He wants us to unlearn all the things that we learned from our (metaphorical and real) slips, falls, scrapes and hurts. The things that can make us question our faith and God's character.
Ultimately God wants us to get more and more simple until we relearn our childlike faith in Him.

The good news is that God continues to pursue me regardless of how stubborn I am. God is a God of second chances and he relentlessly pours out His love on me. I cannot run away from Him or hide from Him.

This week I am on holidays in the Bahamas. Every morning I watch the sunrise over the ocean. Standing on a rocky prominence, I can hear and see the relentless pounding of the surf on the rocks below.
The certainty of the sunrise and the pounding of the surf remind me of the power and awesomeness of God. Most of all, it reminds me of how much God loves me and that He is constantly pursuing me. He is a creative God. He created the heavens and the earth. He created the cliff I stand on and the ocean below. He painted the amazing colours of the blue and turquoise ocean and the brilliant green of the grass. He gave the birds their songs. What a great Father I have!

He created you and me as His crowning glory, and no matter what happened in the past and what else happens in the future, His goal now is to draw us into a loving relationship with Him.

No matter how bleak or how wonderful today is, God is in it.

In the Psalms David spends a lot of time being real and vulnerable with God. He is often in anguish as his enemies surround him and he cannot see a way out. However, no matter how bleak things get for David he ends with the same conclusion:

Psalm 18:46  The Lord lives! Praise be to my Rock. Exalted be God my Saviour!

47 He is the God who avenges me, who subdues nations under me,

48 who saves me from my enemies. You exalt me above my foes; from a violent man you rescue me.

49 Therefore I will praise you Lord, among the nations; I will sing the praises of your name.

50 He gives his king great victories; he shows unfailing love to his anointed, to David and his descendants forever. NIV

Psalm 16: 11 You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence... NIV

Psalm 13: 5 But I trust in your unfailing love; my heart rejoices in your salvation.
6 I will sing the Lord's praise, for He has been good to me. NIV

Let the wild God into your life. Don't try to tame Him. Give Him control and let Him help you "unlearn" and move you towards a simpler, wilder, and more faithful life.

Thanks Yurij!! the quote by Oswald Chambers is too true. The challenges are all about unlearning something that we have believed to be true, but that belief has to unlearned to learn something new. Experiences change those beliefs. I recently finished a 65 day nutrition program that was quite specific and challenging and unlearned quite a few things. Change and challenge is so very good, but at the same time not easy. I'm happy to say that the experience for me and saying YES to God's nudging allowed me to drop 25 lbs of fat literally and I feel great. So much to unlearn in the process!!! HOPE to keep unlearning every single day! Blessings, D
