Not sure if you have the same problem as me, but maybe you do. I'll take a chance and make an assumption that you might.
What am I talking about?
Have you ever wanted to do something and then didn't follow through, or wanted to change a negative habit but lacked the discipline to do it? I'm thinking things like really wanting to get fit this summer and feel good about yourself but never executing the plan. Or how about really wanting to stop binge eating, or drinking, or smoking, or Netflixing, but can't bring yourself to stop?
I've been on a bit of a personal social psychological experiment. Trying things out to see if I can change some habits. I'll bring you along for the ride just in case you suffer from the same kind of things that I do. We are in good company.
The Apostle Paul, even after his encounter with Jesus, had trouble with doing what he
didn't want to do and not doing the things he
did want to do. The Apostle Peter likewise often got ahead of himself and said and did things that he later regretted in spite of hanging around Jesus for three years.
You might be asking, "Hey, if these two can't do it, how do
I have a chance?"
Well, stay tuned over the next few weeks as we take a journey together. For starters I'll give you some
simple homework.
Spend some time every day in the next few weeks focusing on understanding
how much God loves you and more importantly,
deeply receiving God's love.
Start this journey by reading the Gospels.
Read until God speaks to you about His love for you. Remember the Holy Scriptures are the Living Word and God will speak to you through His Word. Also check out 1 Corinthians 13 to see what God has to say about love.
It's important to understand that this is not about creating a formula. Rather, it is about spending time being in relationship. Formulas don't work, but a relationship with Jesus transforms.
Do the work and check in with me as we journey along together.

Great to see that some of you are ready to engage and are willing to let the transformation begin. Any more of you out there ready for a change? Buckle up everyone.
