Goal setting is awesome... or not so much.  Research shows that people who write down their goals have a lot more success at achieving them than people who don't. However, it is also true that amongst those that write down their goals, many still fall short and quite often the annual ritual of goal setting becomes a time of high anxiety and stress.  There are two main reasons why people don't set goals: fear and discouragement.

The promise of blessing and abundance is simple and practical.  Listen, hear, and obey.
If you take the time to listen you will hear His voice. If you obey what He says He will bless you.

    Are you a disciplined disciple?
CS Lewis defines a disciple as "...the one who has been taught or trained by the master."  It's in the little things, the moment to moment decisions where I am confronted to choose life or death, blessings or curses, that I acquire the skills that my Master wants me to excel at.

Deuteronomy 30:19 reads: "Today I have given you the choice between life and death, between blessing and curses. Now I call on heaven and earth to witness the choices you make. Oh, that you would choose life, so that you and your children may live."

Wow! What a lot of pressure. God gives us the choice in matters of life and death, then He sets up all of heaven and earth to watch us as He cheers us on in the hope that we will make the right choice.

If you build something with precision and it's working, don't mess with it! I was reading in 2 Chronicles:3 this morning where it is describing how Solomon built the temple of God. What really struck me was how intimate and precise the details were in the construction. Everything was measured out precisely. All the interior and exterior design was laid out in extreme detail.

Solomon followed the blue print that God gave him exactly as he received it.
