The promise of blessing and abundance is simple and practical.
Listen, hear and obey. If you take the time to listen you will hear His voice. If you obey what He says He will bless you.
Here is what I want to highlight.
You have to be listening in order to hear.
It is intentional. You have to create an environment where you can actively listen.
If your mind is being crowded with chatter from every direction you will not be able to listen and therefore will not hear.
Often in scripture we see that people are asked to climb a mountain in order to see God or to hear God.
The mountain represents the effort it takes to get quiet and alone with God.
Metaphorically we need to "climb the mountain" of carving out time to be alone with God. In our busyness this is no easy task. However the busier we get the more important the time with God is.
The next obvious lesson is that obedience takes action.
Once we hear His voice we must take action. If we take action the blessing will come.
The blessing is a promise from God.
Genesis 22 describes the story of Abraham's extraordinary obedience. Abraham is asked by God to sacrifice his only son Isaac.
He is climbing his mountain of obedience and is about to sacrifice Isaac when at the last possible moment an angel of the Lord tells him that he no longer needs to sacrifice Isaac and God provides a substitute ram to sacrifice instead.
Because Abraham was obedient and was willing to listen to God he was rewarded.
'The Angel of the Lord called to Abraham from heaven a second time and said, "By Myself (on the basis of Who I Am) I have sworn [an oath], declares the Lord, that since you have done this thing and have not withheld [from Me] your son, your only son [of promise], 17 indeed I will greatly bless you, and I will greatly multiply your descendants...' Genesis 22:15-17AMP
The action of obedience allows for the blessing.
We so often know what God wants us to do but because of self interest, stubbornness, laziness, comfort or fear we don't do what we know we are supposed to do.
I think we often overspiritualize things. We wait for something extraordinary to be asked of us and expect a supernatural outcome.
Instead, most of the time it is the simple action steps that operate in God's economy that generate the blessings.
For example, if you go to a seminar and learn some new strategies to grow your business or serve more people in your practice, you have to execute the strategies in order to experience the blessing of business and practice growth.
Similarly, if you create goals and Gap projects around those goals, track them in your WarriorWay90Day, and follow through with consistent, daily, sometimes mundane action steps you will experience extraordinary blessings.
Consistent obedience and action in the little things will end up surprising you at the amount of blessing that come out of them.
What do you need to take action on today that will lead to blessing tomorrow?
